A position paper is basically an argumentative essay which introduces a counter-point to a particular debate presented by another specialist. Position papers can be published in academic journals, in government, in marketing, law and several other fields. There are three varieties of position papers: first-order position papers and two-step ranking papers. In first-order position papers the purpose of the essay is to introduce a counter-point to an expert’s argument. This can be presented by a single paragraph or by paragraphs on both sides of an argument. Two-step position papers ask that you present your point of view for a counter-point to that of the specialist.1 way to do this is by incorporating two paragraphs or occasionally a whole page on your perspective, and another way is by quoting someone else’s standpoint.

When composing a two-step position papers, you should start with the introductory paragraph and move down the line from there. Your main focus is to show your own argument is better than that of the pro’s.

One of the chief purposes of writing a position paper is to provide an opposing view that’s more believable than your own, and in ways, challenge the expert’s position. You may believe you’re ready to convince the specialist that your point of view is the right one. But how many of us really do that?

Some good things about standing papers is they provide a venue for discussion between the author and the specialist. This is a great place to get your points across to an audience. What’s more, it’s a good way to find out new things, if you have something to say regarding the subject.

Since writing position papers can take time and research, it is best for you to write them to not a professor but to get another person who is reading the paper. It is not easy to write about what you understand, but that which you do not understand. It is a good idea to have an expert’s viewpoint. If at all possible make it a point of asking the individual for his/her opinion and for a response.

If you’re not confident enough to talk, make sure you have a fantastic idea about what you wish to written or writen say on your paper before you begin writing. It is quite easy to make mistakes if you are not an expert in the field, so do your homework and be certain that you are aware of what you are writing about. Write it carefully and thoroughly.

Additionally, it is a good idea to consult a more experienced colleague. You can ask them to help you with the writing process, because they can provide you with invaluable feedback and advice.

You might also want to use a book as a guide for writing your paper, particularly if you’re unsure about what you are talking about or unsure about exactly the purpose you are trying to make. The idea is to consider the book, and use that to guide you through your own paper. You then need to look at what is in the book, and what you’ve written. And ensure that the info is pertinent to the principal subject you’re writing about.

Writing a position paper isn’t about convincing the professor, although this can definitely help. But, it’s vital to create your paper readable, so the professor will be able to review it.
